Karuna Jones is an 18 year-old, Class 12 student, based in the Yarra Valley. She began this year-long project facilitated by Little Yarra Steiner School to investigate her interest in social housing as a mitigation to housing issues and homelessness in her area of the Yarra Ranges. 

Through her applied research and conversations, she found that there is a critical need for Social Housing in her local government area, but most importantly, she would like to continue to advocate for the housing rights of people in the hope of lessening the levels of homelessness, particularly for women on a local, state and national levels. The outcome of her research is a report that encompasses a proposal for the Yarra Ranges Council; this suggests the use of three existing council land-sites to build social housing for women in need.
